Co-curricular - St Josephs Nudgee College

The College’s all-inclusive co-curricular program encompasses a wide range of sporting and cultural activities. Whether boys are looking for a high performance environment or they simply love an activity and wish to participate, everyone can find a place to nurture their passions and strengths. The College is a member school of the Queensland Greater Public Schools (GPS) Association, in addition to running several clubs to round out the comprehensive Activities Program.

Opportunities at Nudgee

All students have the opportunity to participate in summer and winter sports and performing arts activities each Term.

Basketball

Played during the GPS winter season in Term 3, students in Years 5-12 have the opportunity to develop their skills under the guidance of expert coaches and on state-of-the-art courts.

Cattle Club

Year-round, Cattle Club members preparing and exhibiting their animals around Queensland, in doing so, they learn essential animal husbandry, animal welfare, teamwork and communication skills.

Chess

With support from specialist coaches, boys develop and hone their pattern recognition, problem solving and strategic thinking skills and are well equipped to compete in the GPS season during Term 3.

Cricket

Offers to boys in Years 5-12 during Term 1, the program provides a first-class coaching and training environment with playing opportunities for brand new cricketers through to elite level athletes.

Cross Country

Runners compete in a series of meets during the summer season in Semester 1, culminating in the GPS Cross Country Championship, all while reaping the many health and wellbeing benefits of running.

Debating

Orators spend their Friday nights in Semester 1 delivering thought-provoking and nuanced arguments in the GPS Debating season and Queensland Debating Union (QDU) competitions.

Football

With A-licence coaches, strong links to community and A-league clubs and skill development opportunities, our Football program supports players at all levels. The GPS season runs during Term 2.

Music

With a variety of ensembles to join and multiple performance opportunities, our comprehensive Music program offers boys exciting opportunities to learn, perform and thrive on stage.

Performing Arts

Our comprehensive Drama, Theatresports and Visual Art programs support and develop students talents.

Rowing

Offered to boys in Years 8 - 12 in Term 4 and 1, rowers train on both land and water with a dedicated training facility at Wyampa Road. Competition opportunities include Head of the River.

Rugby

With the highest number of Premierships in the GPS, our program is as effective as it is renowned. Offered in Term 3, players have access to world-class coaching and a seamless development program.

Swimming

With access to a 50m nine lane pool and 25m five lane pool and tailored training programs, swimmers can compete in both GPS and club programs.

Track and Field

Pre-season development camps, access to highly trained coaches and world-class facilities ensure athletes are given every opportunity to succeed in their chosen track and field events.

Tennis

Tailored training sessions and dedicated coaching staff, give players the opportunity to progress technically and are well equipped to compete in the Term 2 GPS season in either singles or doubles.

Volleyball

Offered to students in Years 7-12, players have multiple playing and training opportunities with the support of highly skilled coaches. The GPS season runs during Term 1.
